Breastfeeding Benefits Mothers with Lower Blood Pressure Risk

The recent US study shows that breastfeeding for at least six months may lower a woman's risk of developing high blood pressure. Experts have suggested breastfeeding is the best for mothers and babies' health.

Nothing can be compared to the benefits of breastfeeding. Breast milk proves the perfect nutrition to the newborn and protects the baby to fight certain ills like diarrhea and ear infections. A large studies also approved that breastfeeding is linked to a lower risk of women's health problems:

- Breast cancer
- Diabetes
- Heart disease
- Osteoporosis
- Overian cancer
- Postpartum depression

For the new study, 56,000 US women have participated in the Nurses' Health Study II. Each participant has given birth to at least one child. The results were 8,900 were diagnosed with high blood pressure; 22 percent high for women if they did not breastfeeding their first child. Women who had breastfed for more than six months have lower blood pressure rate.

Breastfeeding along does not protect against high blood pressure, but it provides a long term protection against high blood pressure.
