Domperidone Side Effects

Domperidone is an antiemetic drug or a dopamine antagonist. Other drug name is Motilium, or Motilium 10 mg. Motilium is developed by Janssen Pharmaceutica, and used orally, rectally or intravenously, generally to suppress nausea and vomiting, or as a prokinetic agent. The generic version of Motilium is known as Domperidone, which is made by different international manufacturers.

Before using Domperidone (Motilium), the following common side effects should be considered:

• Change of appetite
• Constipation
• Dizziness
• Drowsiness
• Dry mouth
• Flushing
• Headache
• Insomnia
• Nausea
• Nervousness
• Stomach cramps

Tell your doctor if you experience any of the serious side effects:
• Breast tenderness
• Chest pain
• Confusion
• Decreased sex desire in men or women
• Menstrual changes
• Muscle spasm
• Trembling

Stop using Domperidone or seek for urgent medical care if any of the following side effects happen:
• Allergic reactions to Domperidone, such as skin rash, itching, short of breath, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat that may cause difficult in swallowing or breathing
• Fast or irregular heartbeats
• Swelling of hands, ankles or feet
• Urination pain

I stopped using domperidone yesterday because it caused a strange dizziness and muscle spasms all over my body. I'm a little concerned that my heart muscle could spasm. Should I contact my doctor immediately or will it pass with time?
