WHAT IT IS USED FOR BASICALLY? This antisickness medicine helps in relieving the uneasing and uncomfortable symptoms of stomach fullness, bloating and regurgitation of contents of stomach. HOW IT WORKS? The domperidone is a medicine constituent that is a dopamine antagonist. It blocks the dopamine receptors in the upper digestive system which leads to increased contraction of muscles in the stomach. This helps in speeding up the passage of food through the stomach into the intestine that prevents vomiting and the feeling of bloating and sickness is reduced.

It helps in treating vomiting and nausea. It also helps in treatments of migraine, in emergency hormonal contraception and in anti-cancer chemotherapy.

DOSAGE: The domperidone dose is different for different patients. The strength of medicine decides the number of tablets that should be taken and the medical problem decides the length of the time for which it should be consumed.

For consuming the tablets orally, about 10miligrams(mg) should be taken by adults three or four times a day for the treatment of gastrointestinal motility problems and for the treatment of nausea and vomiting, about 20 mg should be consumed by adults three or four times a day.

It is recommended that motilium tablets should be taken before meals because they take a longer time to work effectively if they are consumed after meals. Motilium suppositories have proved to be very useful for patients that cannot take medicines by mouth or have a problem swallowing tablets. The domperidone gets absorbed into the bloodstream by the rich blood supply in the vessels found in the rectum.

HOW TO STORE THIS MEDICINE? To store this medicine as below:
1. It should be kept out of reach of children.
2. It should be stored away from direct light and heat.
3. It should not be stored in damp places as moisture and heat are observed to break down the medicine.
4. The outdated medicine should not be used.

Therefore, motilium has a number of uses and can be used for the treatment of problems like vomiting, nausea, gastrointestinal problems, etc.
