Motilium is a prescription medication that is mainly used for nausea and vomiting. However, it is also used for relief from symptoms of acid reflux, bloating and stomach fullness that can cause discomfort. Generically referred to as domperidone, this drug is available at Canadian pharmacies in its branded, as well as, the generic form. The branded version of domperidone is available in tablet and suspension, as well as, suppository form at any Canadian online Pharmacies. Feelings of nausea, stomach bloating and continued vomiting can be alleviated with the drug as well as suppository use.

What is Domperidone?
Active ingredients in the medication block the dopamine receptors in the upper section of the digestive tract. With Domperidone, taken as prescribed, the muscles at the entry of the stomach are tightened while the muscles at the exit of the stomach are relaxed. This as a result, will increase the contractions in the stomach. This causes the food consumed, to speed its process into the intestines. The speed of the food entering the intestines will disable the ability to vomit thereby, decreasing feelings of nausea and bloating. Domperidone is also instrumental in ensuring that food flows in the right manner, which decreases the ability for it to regurgitate into the oesophagus. This medication also prevents the chemoreceptor trigger zone from sending messages to the brain. This too is instrumental in decreasing feelings of nausea. Domperidone is also prescribed by some doctors for increased milk production in breast feeding mothers. Although it is not manufactured as a stimulant for milk production, there are studies that have shown an increase in the production of breast milk by women who take this medication.

How to Take the Medication?
Motilium is available in different forms. Suspension, suppositories and tablets, can be purchased at cheap prices through an accredited Canadian pharmacy. Most often adults are prescribed the drug in tablet form. Children under the age of five are prescribed the medication in suspension or suppository form. However, suppositories are not recommended for children under 15kg. The manner in which the medication is taken will depend on the severity, as well as, other factors based on diagnosis. Domperidone or any other medication should not be taken without a prescription. Standard dosage of the medication is one tablet 15 to 30 minutes before meals. Domperidone should only be taken as long as it is prescribed and should not be prolonged at own discretion.

Precautions and Side Effects
Domperidone should not be taken by patients with pituitary tumours, liver or kidney diseases and if suffering from other bowel problems. Any other medical conditions should be informed before being prescribed with this medication. Certain drugs may interact with ingredients in the medication. Therefore, the doctor should be informed about any over-the-counter or prescription medications used during this time. Side effects are common to all medications, and the severity will vary according to each person. Common side effects of Domperidone include constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, insomnia, headache, heartburn, irregular menstruation etc. Although remarkably few severe side effects have been experienced, it is necessary to be informed about them. Severe side effects include arrhythmia, abnormal urination, allergic reactions etc. Severe side effects need to be consulted by a doctor immediately.

Motilium ensures that food travels faster through the oesophagus, stomach and gut. Therefore, in order to avoid reflux, nausea, vomiting and bloating, taking the medication as per prescription will help to alleviate the discomfort.
