US Hospitals Not Supporting Breastfeeding
A shocking 80 percent of hospitals are giving breastfeeding newborns unnecessary formula, a practice that makes it more difficult for new mothers and infants to learn how to breastfeed and how to continue when they go home.
This is despite the well known fact that babies who are fed formula and stop breastfeeding early have higher rates of obesity, diabetes, respiratory problems and ear infections than babies who breast feed longer.
This and other surprising statistics were included in a report gleaned from data gathered in the Centre for Disease Control and Preventions' Maternity Practices in Infant Nutrition and Caresurvey.
The report was released to coincide with World Breastfeeding Week. To read more about the findings on MedicineNet.com, >CLICK HERE.<
